FIDE Survey Documents Barriers Facing Women in Chess
FIDE’s Women in Chess Commission has published its first global survey of women and girls in chess, analysing 672 responses from 127 federations. The report says 63% of respondents experienced gender bias in chess settings, 38% reported sexual harassment or inappropriate behaviour, and 76% reported at least one form of discrimination or harassment. It also identifies cost and time as the leading barriers to participation. Source: FIDE Women in Chess Commission.
