I played this game with the black pieces against the mighty polish opening! 1.b4! I managed to survive the opening without any opening preparation for this and my opponent caught me off guard.
a bit of history about the polish opening -
the opening was never popular at top level but a number of "named" players have played it on occasion. for example-richard reti against abraham speijer in scheveningen 1923 and boris spassky against vasily smyslov in the 1960 Moscow–leningrad match.
The opening is largely based upon tactics on the queenside or the f6- and g7-squares.
